WHAT IS YOUNG ENTERPRISE ?

Young Enterprise is a national charity. We motivate young people to succeed in the changing world of work by equipping them with the work skills, knowledge and confidence they need to succeed.

We make the connection between education and the world of work, enabling young people to develop the knowledge and attitudes they need to succeed, building on eight key employability skills of communications, teamwork, financial capability, confidence, problem solving, resilience, organisation and initiative.

WHO WE SUPPORT

We believe that the potential of the UK’s young people is unlimited, and an academic education on its own is not enough.

We work directly with young people, teachers, parents, businesses and influencers to help build a successful and sustainable future for all young people.

Through our hands-on employability, enterprise and financial education programmes, resources and teacher training, we aim to reduce youth unemployment, help young people realise their potential beyond education and empower a generation to learn, to work and to live.

YE Chiltern Area, overviews the running of enterprise and financial education provided by Young Enterprise in schools in the Chiltern Area.  In particular, the YE Company Programme competition for Year 12 students but also other workshops and training for all students of any age.

HOW WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE

Students who participate in the YE Company Programme benefit from hands on experience of setting up and running a company, developing their employability skills and raising their aspirations and confidence, preparing them for the world of work.

The YE Company Programme complements traditional learning methods, by providing student companies with access to well-informed local volunteer Business Advisers who are supported by School Centre Leads and local YE staff.

A series of competition events inspires students to achieve more than they thought possible and real, practical experience of working as a team to solve problems and achieve a common objective provides them with a tangible entrepreneurial experience to last them their lifelong.

SCHOOLS

Business Advisers are volunteers who have business experience and can mentor a school team through the YE Company Programme on a regular or occasional basis.

Commitment on a regular basis involves preparing and attending weekly student company meetings, lasting one to two hours, in order to guide the team through setting up and operating their business successfully.

Dragons are local business people who support our annual Dragons Den event for teams entering the YE Company Programme competition.

If you have relevant business experience and some time to commit to preparing for, attending and judging some truly inspirational team pitches, then please get in the touch to find out more.

If you’re a school in the Chiltern Area, contact us to find out how you can get involved with the Young Enterprise Company Programme to give your students the opportunity to acquire useful employability skills and practical experience of running a company.
